October 2019 Aikido Update

Rose Garrard passing her 2nd Dan

Here is the October 2019 Aikido update for the Ki Federation of Great Britain.

Congratulations to the following members who successfully took their Dan Gradings on the Autumn Seminar...

  • 1st Dan: S. Pitcher, A. Lindsay and K. Brown.
  • 2nd Dan: Rose Garrard, our 94 year old member, who had an excellent grading.
  • 3rd Dan: D. Hayward. M. Vaesen from Paris

We also congratulate the following members who were graded to 6th Dan on their Group course...

  • 6th Dan: S. Rudge, J. Speirs, A. Stenning, D. Wilbourne, D. Galley and J. Doble.

We don't normally take photographs of gradings. However, Rose, at age 94, gave us permission to take and publish these images from her 2nd Dan Grading. Click on an image to expand it and view optional slideshow...

Sensei Hughes noticed that some members have been posting photographs of their Dan Grade certificates on social media. Being awarded a Dan Grade is a great achievement. This is a proud moment for any student, however these certificates should not be posted online.

We have places available on the KI Therapy Course on the 23rd & 24th November. This is for 1st Dan and above, so please contact the office if you wish to book a place.

A few places are still available on the Basic Sword Course and the Advanced Sword Course, on the 26th October. These are for 5th Dan and above, and must be pre-booked.

We have one member for 2nd Dan Grading and one for 3rd Dan Grading on the Chrsitmas course (7th December). So we will require Dan Grades to make ukemi - please let the office know if you are available.

The Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee morning, and sales from the 5th Dan Group Course, made £550 for the charity. Thank you to everyone for their support.
