Here is the September 2021 Aikido update for the Ki federation of Great Britain.
Sadly, we have to pass on the news that Geoff Whittington has passed away. Geoff was one of our older members and you may remember his attendance at the many courses in the Isleport Dojo. Here we used to practise our Jo and Bokken on the front lawn and drank many happy cups of tea. He was a member since 1982, obtained 6th Dan and taught the Darlington club until a few years ago. He was a lovely man with a good sense of humour and attended many of our courses in the Mark headquarters.
We appreciate the feelings of some members who are unsure about returning to practise after Covid. It has been a difficult time for everyone over the last 18 months. However, if we are cautious, and care for each other, all should be well.
At the beginning of September, Sensei Margaret restarted the Wednesday night high grade classes at Headquarters. The Headquarters adult and Junior classes will begin in October.
Headquarters Class times…
Sundays
- Juniors: 5.30 – 6.15pm
- Adults: 6.40 – 7.30pm
Wednesdays
- Adults: 6.50 – 7.40pm
- High Grade: 8.00 – 8.50pm
For the time being, the office will be open on a Friday – 9:00am to 1:00pm. At other times, everyone works from home.
