August 2024 Aikido Update

3rd Sep 2024

Here is the August 2024 aikido update for the Ki Federation.

We enjoyed a very happy Summer Seminar in the company of our UK members and the members from Canada, France and Holland. It was wonderful to see our International members again and catch up with all their news. Thank you to everyone who helped on the Seminar.

August 2024 Aikido Update
The Dan Grade class taught by Sensei Williams

We all enjoyed the special class that Sensei Williams taught. It was very moving and inspirational – a day to remember.

August 2024 Aikido Update
Bring out your dead

We had plenty of laughs on our fancy dress evening again. The prize for the funniest costume went to Dimitri and family, over from Canada. They paraded by, banging a gong and calling “Bring out your dead”. The body in the cart kept insisting that he was getting better! The Paris members impressed us as a team of athletes from the Olympics. They even brought the olympic rings – made from hula hoops. A very special Parisian chef also accompanied them. Great costumes all round.

We congratulate the following members who passed their Dan Gradings on the seminar…

  • 1st Dan: S. Chedgey and T. Seehra.
  • 2nd Dan: P. Crook.
  • 3rd Dan: L. Pouille from Paris.

The following members were also presented with their new grades…

  • 4th Dan: N. Popolov and K. Nagata, both from Canada.
  • 5th Dan: N. Seehra, V de Bruin (from Holland), L. Liew and E. Aspinwall (both from Canada).
  • 6th Dan: M. Carpenter, L. Stevenson, C. Mazzei and D. Popolov (both from Canada).
  • 7th Dan: P. Bailie, P. Valentine, G. Singh, J. Lyons and A. de Lichana (from Paris).

Our congratulations go to all of them. A very emotional day for everyone. We would also like to congratulate those members who passed their Kyu Gradings.

The second week of the Seminar was less well attended than the first week. So we have decided that the 2025 Summer Seminar will be for one week instead of two.

The weapons course on the 8th September will be just for the morning session, 10.30 to 12.30. The afternoon session is cancelled.

There is also an area course in Panteg, Wales, on the 21st September.
