Anusuya recently passed her First Dan grading at the Autumn Seminar. There was a striking calmness and clarity to her movement that prompted us to ask about her experience of studying Aikido at the Epsom Ki Aikido club.
When did you start Ki Aikido?
I started Ki Aikido as a Junior at 12 years old.
What made you want to try Ki Aikido?
My Mum wanted me to learn self defence.
What do you enjoy most about practice?

I enjoy the meditation the most, and the Aikido mindfulness.
How do you benefit from Ki Aikido off of the mat?
I benefit from the breathing exercises off of the mat, and being able to present myself as confident and present.
Any other comments?
Aikido is good because you do not have to have physical strength to succeed – your success is much more defined by how you extend your mind.
